How to Prepare for Lash Lift and Tint?

Lash Lifting, Lash Tinting

Posted by Jennifer Ngo at March 15th, 2023

A lash lift and tint is one service session that combines two individual lash treatments; the treatments happen in the same session because one benefits the other. A successful lash lift and tint will enhance the appearance of the lashes, making them look longer, darker, and fuller! What people enjoy most about a lash lift and tint session is that they are non-invasive and affordable. However, you must adequately prepare for your appointment to ensure you get the best results. This article will provide some tips on how to prepare for lash lift and tint!

How to Prepare for Lash Lift and Tint? - Research First

The first step in preparing for your lash lift and tint appointment is to research the salon or technician carrying out the procedure. Choosing a reputable salon or technician is essential to ensure you get the best results; look for reviews and recommendations from previous clients to gauge the quality of service the salon or technician provides. If you can’t source any reviews or positive online presence, it’s probably best to cancel the appointment!

Avoid Wearing Eye Makeup

On the day of your appointment, come free of all eye makeup, including concealer and/or foundation on or around the eyes. Eye makeup can interfere with the procedure and make it challenging for the technician to apply the lash tint. Moreover, removing eye makeup can be time-consuming, which can delay your appointment. It is also advisable to avoid using waterproof mascara for at least 48 hours before the appointment, as it can be troublesome to remove.

Remove Contact Lenses

If you wear contact lenses, removing them before the appointment is highly-advisable. Lash tinting involves the use of products that can irritate the eyes, and contact lenses can trap these products, causing discomfort and irritation. It is recommended that you wear glasses or bring a contact lens case with you to store your lenses during the procedure.

Let Your Technician Know of Any Allergies

If you have any allergies or sensitivities, it is important to inform your technician before the procedure; this will help them select products suitable for your skin type and minimize the risk of any adverse reactions. Some of the lash lift and tint products contain ingredients that can cause allergic reactions, such as formaldehyde and ammonium thioglycolate. Your technician will conduct a patch test to determine if you suspect you are allergic to any products.

Wear Comfortable Clothing

Break out those sweatpants, leggings, and comfy tees! During the procedure, you must lie down for an extended period, so It is recommended that you wear comfortable clothing that will allow you to relax and feel at ease.

Avoid Touching Your Eyes

It is crucial to avoid touching your eyes during and after the procedure. Touching your eyes can irritate them, and the oils from your fingers can interfere with the products used during the treatment. We recommend keeping your eyes closed during the procedure to prevent accidental touching.

How to Prepare for Follow Aftercare Instructions

After the session, your technician will provide lash lift and tint aftercare instructions to ensure your lashes stay beautiful for as long as possible! Some aftercare instructions may include avoiding water, steam, and heat for at least 24 hours, avoiding oil-based products around the eyes, and avoiding rubbing or pulling on the lashes. After the first 24hrs, it's incredibly important to condition and moisturize your lashes. Your lashes just went through a chemical process, and to keep them looking great, it's important to revitalize them with a lash conditioner.
