What is a Lash Lift?

Lash Lifting

Posted by Jennifer Ngo at March 26th, 2019

If you haven't had much work done on your eyelashes before, you may be asking yourself, "What is a lash lift?" There are many options out there, so don't be shy about asking your local salon artist. Eyelash lifting is basically a perm for your lashes. The process uses unharmful chemicals to break down the bonds within your hair to restructure them. Restructuring can take up to two times in order for it to work. It depends on how stubborn and straight your natural lashes are. Silicone eye pads or lash rods are used in order to attain the lift or curl you desire. It is very important to understand the type of lift you are looking for. Some clients like gently lifted and some like it curled back. If you are looking for dramatic results, it’s best to use a lash growth serum prior to getting your lift. Longer lashes tend to make more dramatic lash lift results. There are different sized rods/eye pads for those with short lashes and we’ve seen some excellent results from clients with short lashes. However, always ask your lash artist if your lashes are long enough for a lift. This could save you time and money if your lashes are too short. During the service, your lashes will be glued down to the upper silicone pad, a gentle glue is used and will break down throughout the session. Once your lashes are perfectly glued back, the lifting lotion is placed on. The lifting lotion stays on for 10 to 15 minutes. Once this is done and removed, the setting lotion is added for another 10 to 15 minutes. Once the setting lotion is complete and removed, a nourishing agent or lash botox is added to nourish and revitalize your lashes. This will stay on for the next 24 hours. Your lash artist will remove all eye pads and cleanse your eyelid if necessary. It is important to note that your lashes are malleable for the next 8 to 24 hours. Therefore, it’s important to not get them wet, to avoid any moisture, and to avoid any mechanical friction such as sleeping on your face or using a mechanical curler during this time. You can use mascara after the first 24 hours. eyelash-lifting,before&after
