How Long Does Brow Lamination Last?

Brow Lamination

Posted by Jennifer Ngo at May 7th, 2023

Brow lamination has gained immense popularity as a treatment that can transform unruly and sparse eyebrows into beautifully groomed and fuller-looking arches. This innovative technique has cemented itself within the beauty industry, renowned for enhancing the shape and texture of eyebrows. However, some considering brow lamination often wonder how long the results will last and the role that aftercare plays in maintaining the desired look.

Brow Lamination - Quick Recap

Brow lamination is a semi-permanent procedure involving gentle chemicals to shape and set the brow hairs in the desired position. The process typically begins with a consultation where the brow technician/artist assesses the client's natural brows and discusses the desired outcome. The technician proceeds with the treatment once the client's expectations are understood. During the process, the technician carefully applies specially formulated solutions to the brows, manipulating the hairs to achieve the desired shape; this usually involves lifting the hairs at the root and setting them in an upright position. The solutions used in the procedure help break down the hair's disulfide bonds, allowing the hairs to be molded and set into a new shape.

How Long Does It Last?

When it comes to the longevity of brow lamination, there are several factors to consider, including aftercare. On average, brow lamination can last between four to six weeks. However, the duration of the results can vary depending on individual hair growth cycles and the care taken after the treatment. Proper aftercare is crucial for maintaining the desired brow look for as long as possible. After undergoing brow lamination, it is essential to avoid getting the brows wet for at least 24 hours. This means refraining from activities like swimming, saunas, or steam rooms during this period. It is also recommended to avoid applying makeup or other products to the brows immediately after the treatment. Additionally, gentle handling of the brows is crucial to ensure the longevity of the results. Avoid rubbing or touching the treated area excessively, as this can disrupt the shape and cause the hairs to lose their position. It is also advisable to avoid using harsh cleansers or exfoliators on the brow area, as these can strip away the lamination solution and affect the results. With proper aftercare and proper conditioning of brows, brow lamination results can last longer and maintain their shape throughout four to six weeks (we know it’s tough - but worth it!) However, without adequate care, the effects may fade more quickly. Neglecting aftercare instructions can lead to premature loosening of the brow hairs and a decrease in the overall effectiveness of the treatment.
Adhering to the aftercare instructions provided by your artist, such as avoiding water exposure and gentle handling, will help the desired look last for as long as possible.  If you’re interested in brow lamination, please book your appointment with one of our Houston locations today!
