You’re back home from the salon with your lashes freshly tinted and looking great. Now that you’ve gotten your lash tinting treatment, you want them to stay tinted and look fabulous for as long as possible! Tinted lashes can last anywhere from two weeks to a month. However, if you don’t want your tinted lashes to fade prematurely, you need to practice good lash tint aftercare. Here are a few tips from the pros on caring for your lashes immediately after tinting them and in the weeks after your appointment!

Keep Your Lashes Dry

The most important thing you can do to maintain the look of tinted lashes is to keep them dry. Do not wet your face 24 hours after your lashes have been tinted; doing so could damage the tint, causing the dye to run and wash out quickly. You should not shower for at least 24 hours. Aside from damaging the tint, water can also damage the delicate design if you’ve gotten your eyelashes styled or curled too. You can wash your face after 24 hours, but avoid using extremely hot water. Steam and hot water can alter lashes' color, shape, and style over time. Sticking with cool or warm water when washing your face is best.

Be Careful With Makeup

You might be curious if you can wear makeup before, during, or after an eyelash tint appointment. It’s best to avoid wearing makeup to your lash tinting appointment, and you shouldn’t apply any eye makeup for at least 24 hours afterward. After 24 hours, you can return to your normal makeup routine. However, pay special attention to your cleanser or makeup remover. You’ll also want to avoid oil-based makeup removers or cleansers, which can cause lashes to fade. Gel and cream-based cleansers are a great alternative, and they don’t strip the tint from your lashes like oil-based cleansers; they'll keep your tint lasting longer and looking better. Also, it’s best to avoid rubbing, pulling, or sleeping on your face to keep the lashes healthy and to avoid the color from transferring.
