What is Brow Lamination?

Brow Lamination

Posted by Jennifer Ngo at January 19th, 2021

We get it. Eyebrow and eyelash services can be confusing for people who have never experienced them before, especially when there are so many different at-home solutions advertised everywhere! It feels like whether it’s on Instagram or TV, we’re continually bombarded with advertisements for a new widget, cream, makeup, or brush that will magically make our eyebrows and eyelashes look sexier than any model or celebrity. It’s exhausting, but do not be deterred by all the noise. There are qualified eyelash and eyebrow artists who can make your eyes look beautiful. It doesn’t require magic potions or buzzing Bluetooth attachments; it just takes a trained professional’s skill and expertise. So, what is brow lamination? Eyebrow or brow lamination is the process of “perming” a client’s eyebrows to create a more even, full, and silky look. That’s right; we said, “perm.” But do not be alarmed! Brow lamination is often called “eyebrow perming” because the goal is to reshape the brows into a different position semi-permanently. I know we all get slight PTSD thinking of our aunt’s or grandmother’s botched perm hair cut, but don’t fret, brow lamination will not do that to your eyebrows!

Why Would Someone Want Brow Services?

So, what is brow lamination to someone who fights with their eyebrow shape and style every day? In a word, salvation. No, but seriously, many people battle with their eyebrows daily, using gels creams and whatever else they discover to try and tame unruly, crazy, unsightly eyebrows. Eyebrow lamination saves time and money spent on sourcing the ultimate at-home eyebrow solution.

How Does Brow Lamination Work?

When you visit a boutique or salon for eyebrow lamination, your artist will first apply gentle salon-grade glue to your eyebrows to get the hairs lifted and placed in a uniform or desired direction. After the brows have been brushed and aligned in the style the artist chooses, your brows will then be covered in 2 different perm solutions to help seal them into position. To finish the whole process up, your brow artist will apply nourishing oils to the skin and hair of your brows - this is to guard against any irritation caused by the entire brow lamination process.

What Other Services Should Coincide With My Brow Lamination?

It’s recommended that before your brow lamination that you receive eyebrow threading treatment. We recommend combining the two services because brow lamination will give your eyebrows a richer, fuller, fluffier look, but it won’t change contour/shape at the base of your brows, which eyebrow threading will do. However, it’s not 100% necessary to get both services done at the same time. At Chic Lash Boutique, all of our brow lamination services include tinting, if requested by the client.

What Can Results Can I Expect From My Brow Lamination Treatment?

When you’re done with your eyebrow lamination services, your brows will look livelier, aligned fuller, and yes, fluffier! For people that suffer from unwieldy and “untameable” eyebrows, eyebrow lamination is the perfect solution. You will no longer have to fight with your eyebrows daily to get them behaving, and more importantly, looking fabulous. The main goal of eyebrow lamination is to break down the current bonds in your hair to make them more compliant for grooming. Most people will notice a slight airy-ness or lift to their brows, making them look fluffier. The typical eyebrow lamination treatment will leave you with great looking brows that keep their shape anywhere from 2-6 weeks!
