Safety Practices the Best Salons Should Follow

Communities

Posted by Jennifer Ngo at March 24th, 2020

At Chic Lash Boutique, the safety, health, and wellness of both our clients and our staff are our number one concerns. We’ve always been focused on the community & Houston health in general, but especially during this time when public health is at the forefront of our lives. We’re proud of the safety practices and precautions that we put in place at all of our locations. We wanted to share some of the safety practices that we put in place so you can feel a bit more at ease, but also so others can consider implementing these things as well. Let’s get started.

Sanitation & Sterilization

Sanitation practices are perhaps the most important of all the safety practices that your artist & salon should follow. This includes proper cleaning and sanitation of the rooms, chairs, all surfaces, doors, hands, and more. It also means proper cleaning and sterilization of any tools that are used on different clients throughout the day. We make sure that all of our materials, tools, rooms, and all surfaces are properly washed and sanitized regularly. In addition, we also ensure that any common areas or communal items (such as cups in the waiting room, magazines, etc) are kept clean. Specific services that we offer also have each of their own cleaning and sanitizing protocols. Our eyebrow threading service, for example, requires that our artists use a new and clean thread for every single client. Used threads are discarded immediately following your session, and all of the tools used in any service are immediately sterilized following use.

Chemical and Mechanical Safety

Some people can be sensitive to different glues, pigments, and other beauty chemicals and products. We ensure the safety of our clients and our staff by outfitting our artists with masks, gloves, and protective gear when needed.

Proper Certifications

Before getting a treatment or a procedure done at a beauty salon or boutique, you should check whether the artists are properly trained and certified to offer those services. Training programs do more than teach you how to give the best possible results. They also teach crucial lessons on safety practices, sanitation procedures, and other protocols for artists to follow during sessions to keep the clients safe. All of the artists at Chic Lash Boutique are certified and licensed in the services that they offer. This means that they’re highly trained in the safety protocols necessary for each of the services that we offer.

Our artists are locals with a passion for providing safe and quality service to our clients.

Our artists' bios and experience speak to that: read those here.

Individualized Consultations

Another key safety precaution that we implement here at Chic Lash Boutique is providing individual, one-on-one consultations before we perform a treatment on a client. In this consultation, our artists go over your entire health history, ask questions about your skin, ask about any past reactions or treatments you have, and go over the entire process of the treatment. This ensures that we provide a safe experience to all of our clients and take their personal health and wellness into account.

High-Quality and Approved Products

Certain products and tools can cause irritation, subpar results, and contain harmful compounds. All of the safety precautions in the world won’t mean anything if your salon is using harmful and low-quality products during treatments. We use high-quality and professional salon products for all of our treatments. Our eyelash extension glues don’t contain any formaldehyde or latex. We’re also happy to discuss any sensitivities, skin conditions, or other factors that could affect how different products react with your unique skin.
