Is Eyebrow Threading Safe?

Eyebrow Threading

Posted by Jennifer Ngo at June 4th, 2019

For those unfamiliar with how eyebrow threading works, or even wondering, "Is eyebrow threading safe?" the most important thing to know is that it should be performed at a reputable, clean salon. Still, for those who at least know that, some questions about the process remain. Let's consider some reasons people may question whether eyebrow threading is safe or not. Although eyebrow threading is gentler than waxing it is necessary to confirm the artist has sanitized his or her hands and is using clean thread. All thread should be kept inside a drawer or container, away from contaminants. The thread should be single use only. This means after they have threaded you, the section of the thread used should be torn off and discarded. As long as the service is done in clean, sanitary conditions, the risks will be mitigated. The issue comes up when cleanliness is a concern. Time magazine quotes an Illinois dermatologist as saying: "You need to make sure that there is a clean thread, and the person is washing their hands." Overall though, eyebrow threading is generally not a dangerous service to receive. It is gentler and has less opportunity for contamination than other hair removal services. When getting the service done, don’t be afraid to confirm the thread is clean and your artist has cleaned their hands prior to performing the service.
