How Does Microblading Work?

Microblading

Posted by Jennifer Ngo at May 21st, 2019

The microblading process is done with a series of different blades that consists of micro-needles. The artist will match the color of your hair with the ink/s used. With the matched ink, the artist will then use the needles to slice into the superficial layers of the skin and deposit ink pigment. The strokes and technique used will mimic hair strokes in order to create a fuller and natural brow design. Click here to read frequently asked questions regarding what to expect during the process. Microblading is different than micro-shading, micro-feathering, and powder/ombre brows.  These are all different styles of eyebrow tattoos, yielding different results. Microblading provides the most natural look as it is the style that creates individual hair-like strokes. If you would like more details, this article from ELLE outlines it quite well. Microblading can last anywhere from 6 months to two years. After your first initial service, it is recommended that you return 6 to 8 weeks for your touch-up. Once the first touch-up is out of the way, yearly touch-ups are recommended to refresh the color and shape of your brows. Since the service is semi-permanent, the amount of time the ink stays in your skin is unique for each person. The pigment generally does not last as long on those that have previously undergone chemo, are on medications or creams for acne/aging, those with oily skin, or those with any conditions that can affect skin texture.
